Paediatric Cancer Protocols

The treatment of childhood cancer is complex. These protocols list treatments for common cancers in children in PNG, based on the chemotherapy drugs that are available. These protocols are no replacement for specialist advice.

In paediatric cancer care, attention to detail is needed at every stage, including early and accurate diagnosis, staging of disease, explanation to the parents, liaison with other specialists such as surgeons for some solid cancers, care in administering chemotherapy, management of complications, psychological and family support and long-term follow-up.

For more information on the treatment of childhood cancer please contact Dr Gwenda Anga – gwendaanga@gmail.com, or through Port Moresby General Hospital.
